It was the 36-year-old’s 139th career goal in 342 AFL matches, and his first major of the 2020 premiership.
ABC broadcaster Quentin Hull tweeted: “Thanks Kade. A small man is an icon at one of the biggest clubs. It’s not the size of the dog in the fight. Wonderful tribute from both clubs.”
Geelong Advertiser reporter Alex Oates posted: “It doesn’t seem right to be saying farewell to Kade Simpson. Absolute champion.”
Carlton forward Harry McKay kicked a game-high three goals, while midfielder Sam Walsh managed 31 disposals.
